Hi! I'm John and I've been baking for a few years, building up a strong repertoire of go-to cakes and treats that people have enjoyed quite a lot for birthdays, weddings and all sorts of other occasions. I work full-time, so this is a hobby (at the moment) but I'm getting more and more commissions for bespoke bakes that one day, who knows, I'll be able to do this every day instead!
I decided to call this lark 'Baker on Board' because of the way I mostly use public transport to make my deliveries, usually on London Underground, prompting people to have a nose at what I was carrying - I've even had a few commissions arise from it, so it pays to 'be on display', I suppose!
My other passion is music and I won a British Composer Award in 2008 for a piece I wrote for chamber orchestra; I conduct bands and other smaller ensembles and you can even find me playing in a few on trombone, saxophone or percussion. For my music website, please visit www.johnhollandmusic.co.uk
What I do...
Essentially, I can create whatever you need! I'm known for large, personalised birthday cakes and use classic recipes to ensure that every mouthful is perfect. For really big bakes, I can have access to a larger oven than I have at home, but mostly everything I do can be made in my kitchen. I am registered with Southwark Council.
